Buying Checklist and Glossary
Ignore the puff number until you know the milliliters, the battery plan, and whether you want sealed, modular, or refillable. Then read the grade.
This is the last page in the Guides set on purpose. The others explain one idea. This one is the pocket version: what to check before you spend money, and what the words on this site mean when they show up in a review.
If you only bookmark two URLs besides the review you came from, bookmark this page and how Vape Verdict grades work. The letter is the verdict. This page is the list that should sit in front of it.
Checklist
- Adult use only. These products are for adults 21+. In the United States they sit in the FDA category for electronic nicotine delivery systems.
- Pick a structure first: sealed, modular, or refillable. That fork is here. Do not let the word “disposable” on the wrap decide it for you.
- Read milliliters before puff counts. The wrap is a size class, not a lab result. How to read puff-count claims.
- Look at battery size next to tank size, and whether the cell is reusable. Battery mAh vs e-liquid mL. A 23 mL pod on an 850 mAh cell will charge. That is normal.
- Decide if you will live in Eco or in Boost. Modes change how long the tank lasts and how fast flavor fades. Eco, Boost, and multi-wattage modes.
- If the box advertises sliders — airflow, ice, flavor, nicotine — ask whether you will actually touch them. Adjustable controls.
- Read the letter grade and the cons, not just the hero image. The scale is here. The method behind it is how we test a device.
- If you care about a flavor, look for that profile in the review. We do not invent tastings. Silence means we did not have it.
- If the device is modular, confirm replacement pods and spare cells exist at a real price. What modular and USA-made change.
- Plan for fade. Late flattening is normal. Early collapse or a burnt hit is the end. Flavor fade and when a coil is done.
Glossary
Boost / Eco
High and low power modes. Boost is louder and shorter. Eco stretches the tank. Full page: Eco, Boost, and multi-wattage modes.
Claimed puffs
Marketing estimate. Not a lab count. Full page: how to read puff-count claims.
Detachable battery
The cell comes off the pod. You can charge one and use another. A subset of modular.
Dual mesh
Two mesh heating elements. Current default in high-capacity bars. Not an automatic A. Full page: dual mesh, ceramic, and ultrasonic.
Freebase
Older nicotine form. More throat hit at the same milligram number. Common in lower-strength bottles. Full page: nicotine salt vs freebase.
Letter grade
The verdict on this site. A through F, no A+. Key: how Vape Verdict grades work.
mAh
Battery capacity. Higher is not automatically better if the tank is huge.
mL
E-liquid volume. The honest endurance number.
Modular
Reusable battery plus replaceable prefilled pod. Full pages: sealed vs modular vs refillable and what modular and USA-made change.
Nicotine salt / nic salt
Smoother at high strength. Standard in current disposables at 5% / 50 mg.
Replaceable pod
Prefilled liquid unit you snap onto a kept battery.
Sealed disposable
One piece. Tank gone means device gone.
Ultrasonic
Extra heating method on some hybrids. Judge the daily taste, not the word.
USA-made
Origin claim. Not a flavor claim and not a grade.
How to use this on a review page
Open the review. Read the letter, the one-line summary, then the cons. Then look at milliliters and whether the battery stays with you. If those four things agree with how you actually vape, the rest of the spec block is detail. If they do not, no slider on the box will fix the purchase.
A worked example of that order is the American Standard 50K: modular structure, 23 mL, 850 mAh, Eco/Boost, and a letter that comes from daily use rather than the 50K sleeve. Use it as a template for reading any other review on the site.
Editorial reviews and labeled guest posts stay separate. Guest posts do not set grades. That split is on About and Advertise.

When those twelve are live, every review on the site has a place to point besides another product URL. That is the job.
